New Delhi : Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday met Adar Poonawalla, CEO and owner of Serum Institute of India (SII), in the national capital, he himself said via Twitter. Mansukh Mandaviya said he met Adar Poonawala, CEO of serum institute, and had a meaningful discussion on the supply of the Covishield vaccine.
In an official tweet, Union Health Minister Mandaviya wrote, “CEO of serum institute met Adar Poonawala and the supply of Covishield vaccine was discussed. I praised his role in reducing corona infection and assured the government’s continued support in accelerating vaccine production.” On the other hand, Poonawala had said on Thursday that he had set aside Rs 10 crore to support students going abroad for studies, as some countries have not yet approved the covishield as an acceptable vaccine for entry without warranty.
Adar Poonawala had earlier praised 16 European countries for recognizing covishield as an acceptable vaccine for entry in July. At the same time, Poonawala has donated 1 million pounds for a crowdfunding scheme launched by a news channel.
