EAM in Singapore, holds talks with defence and home ministers
Singapore/New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who is visiting Singapore, held talks on Thursday with Singapore Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen and the Home Minister K Shanmugam.
In tweets, he said:
“Good to see @kshanmugam, Minister of Home Affairs and Law.
“Appreciate his views on strengthening our partnership.”
On his meeting with the Defence Minister, the EAM said the two had a useful exchange of strategic assessments.

The Defence Minister tweeted: “Delighted to have breakfast with Minister of External Affairs @DrSJaishankar. He is a good friend of Singapore and we had a lively exchange on regional security challenges.
“I thanked him for the training opportunities for the SAF (Singapore Armed Forces) and invited India’s armed services to step up visits,” he posted.
He also tweeted his congratulations on the navies of India, Singapore and Thailand for successfully conducting the third SITMEX maritime exercise.
“Congratulations to the navies that successfully conducted the 3rd Singapore-India-Thailand Maritime Exercise (SITMEX).
“SITMEX increases inter-operability and builds confidence among participating navies. It is also testament to the strong ties with our counterparts,” the Defence Minister said in a tweet.
The trilateral naval exercise involving Singapore, India and Thailand was held in the Andaman Sea from November 15 to 16. It features the Republic of Singapore Navy’s (RSN) Formidable-class frigate RSS Tenacious and the Royal Thai Navy’s (RTN) Khamrosin-class anti-submarine patrol craft HTMS Thayanchon. The Indian Navy was represented by the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk missile corvette in the exercise.
