Xiaomi Overtakes Apple As Second Largest Smartphone Seller In The World
New Delhi, Jul 17 : Xiaomi has now become the world’s second-largest smartphone seller, pushing Apple on the third spot, with the category currently dominated by Samsung.
This is according to Canaly’s quarterly smartphone sales report where it possessed a considerable 17 percent market share. Samsung topped the list at 19 percent market share. In fact, Samsung accounted for nearly one in five global shipments of smartphones in the second quarter of 2021. Apple sadly came down to just 14th percent of the market share on this list.
Xiaomi also was also the company that saw the highest rate of annual growth at a phenomenal 83 percent. According to Ben Stanton, research manager at Canalys, the Chinese smartphone brand is forming a tighter grasp overseas with shipments increasing more than four-fold in Latin America, around 150 percent in Africa and 50 percent in Western Europe.
