Hardeep Singh Puri slams Mamata Banerjee for raising farmer’s movement issues In Bhawanipur Gurdwara
Kolkata : Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her alleged comments on the farmer’s movement during her visit to the Gurdwara Sant Kutiya in Bhawanipur last week.
Ms Banerjee, who is seeking her electoral for the September 30 by-poll in the Bhawanipur assembly during her visit to the Gurduwara on September 15 had advocated in favour of the ongoing farmers’ movement demanding withdrawal of the three central farm laws. She expressed her support to the farmers’ movement and how she took part in demanding withdrawal of the farm laws adopted by the NDA government.
Mr Puri, who is campaigning for the BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal for the Bhawanipur seat told reporters that he was a bit upset with the statement of Mamata Banerjee inside the Gurudwara.
” The Union government is always open and ready to talk about the farmers’ issues but there should be a right place to discuss things.” Mr Puri said.
” I am a bit upset (hoiran) at the development that Mamata Ji had raised the farmer’s movement issue in the Gurdwara”, the union minister said.
Mr Puri has been camping in the city for the past two days and engaged in door to door campaigning for the BJP candidate.
He also visited the Bhawanipur Guruduwra and offered prayers.
Mr Puri also visited the ancestral home of revolutionary & charismatic
freedom fighter, and founder of Azad Hind Fauj Netaji Subhas Chandra
Bose.
