Nitish inaugurates Radiation Department of Savera Cancer Hospital

Patna, Oct 16 : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inaugurated Radiation Department of Savera Cancer Hospital, equipped with machine having most advanced technology of its kind in

Eastern India.

Chief Minister inaugurated the radiation department of Savera Cancer Hospital at function attended by a number of prominent doctors of Bihar. Cancer patients of Bihar will no longer have to wait for long for cancer treatment.

Savera Cancer Hospital, the largest private cancer hospital in Bihar, has now started the services of radiation oncology for cancer treatment. With the installation of this state-of-the-art machine costing about Rs 30 crores, cancer patients in eastern India will have a better option of treatment by radiation therapy and patients, will not have to wait for themselves for a long time.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister congratulated Dr V P Singh and Padmashree awardee Dr R N Singh and described all the facilities of the hospital as better for the state.

Renowned oncologist and Managing Director of Savera, Dr V P Singh said that cancer is basically treated by three methods medical oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology. Now the facility of radiation has also become available in the Savera Cancer Hospital of Patna, due to which the patients will get the benefit of specialized facility under one roof for any kind of treatment related to cancer.

Radiation therapy is a cancer treatment that uses high doses of radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. Its goal is to destroy or damage the cancer without harming healthy cells. Many times during the treatment of cancer, the patient needs radiation ie radiation technique.

At present, this facility is available only at a few selected places like AIIMS Patna and IGMS in Bihar, due to which patients have to wait for a long time or go to expensive cities for proper treatment. Now with the availability of this facility in Savera, the dependency of cancer patients to go out will also be reduced.
