Covid-19: Recording 12.5% single day spike, India reports 34,403 new cases, 320 deaths
New Delhi : Witnessing a single day rise in new cases by 12.5 per cent, India logged 34,403 new cases and 320 deaths due to the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the union health ministry said on Friday.
The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,33,81,728 whereas the death toll has climbed to 4,44,248 according to the data.
The country had reported 30,570 cases of Covid-19 on previous day.
The daily positivity rate of the infection was recorded at 2.25 per cent in the country while the active cases have remained under 3.5 lakh after declining by 3,867 cases, as per the health ministry’s bulletin.
The cumulative active caseload now stands at 3,39,056. The share of active cases now stands at 1.02 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases, the figures showed.
Meanwhile, 37,950 more people recovered from the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours making the recovery registry climb to 3,25,98,424. As per the data, the recovery rate stands at 97.65 per cent
The union ministry stated that the weekly positivity rate (1.97 per cent) has been under 3 per cent for 12 weeks now.
A total of 54,92,29,149 samples were tested up to September 16, 2021, for Covid-19. Of these, 15,27,420 samples were tested on Thursday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 77 crore.
“More than 63 lakh (63,97,972 vaccine doses have been administered on Thursday making the country’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage reach a cumulative figure of 77.24 crore (77,24,25,744) as per provisional reports,” the ministry said.
