Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who will be seen essaying the role of former Indian skipper Kapil Dev in his latest movie 83, on Sunday shared the video of “Dear father-in-law” Prakash Padukone and Nagarjuna, reminiscing about 1983, when India won the World Cup for the first time in the history of cricket.

Amid promotions, Ranveer shared a video of the former badminton legend saying that he was playing professional badminton in Denmark at that time, and got to know about India’s victory through the radio.

He shared, “25 June, 1983, was a landmark day in the history of Indian sports. India won the world cup for the first time, most unexpectedly! We were in Denmark at that time. I was playing professional badminton. I couldn’t see the match live. Trying to get the news either from the radio or BBC.

“When we heard that India had won the world cup, I think it was unbelievable. India had beaten the mighty West Indies in those days. That was a turning point for Indian cricket. From what was a sport, became a religion,” added the Badminton legend.

Ranveer also shared the video of South Indian superstar Nagarjuna, expressing his gratitude for presenting the glorious story of Kapil Devil.

Nagarjuna said, “We are just proud, honoured, privileged to present 83 the film to the Telugu audience. Thank you, Kabir Khan, for recreating the magic of that legendary match all over again and showing it to the younger generation. I am really looking forward to watching this in cinema. 83 the film just 5 more days to go.”

Former tennis champion and winner of 12 Grand Slam titles Mahesh Bhupathi also went down the memory lane, to relive the World Cup 1983 win. Taking to Twitter, he posted “Reliving the glorious memories of 83!
