Imtiaz Ali shares his memories of historic 1983 World Cup triumph
Mumbai, Dec 21: Ahead of the much-awaited Kabir Khan’s sports drama ’83’ release, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali shared his memories of the historic win of the 1983 cricket World Cup.
The makers and stars of the movie are leaving no stone unturned in promoting the film. Actor Ranveer Singh, who portrays 1983 World Cup-wining team captain Kapil Dev in the movie, has uploaded a video captioning: “The master storyteller, @imtiazaliofficial, with vivid memories of India’s 1983 Cricket World Cup victory!”
In the video, Tamasha director cherished his memories, saying, “In the year 1983, I remember that there were no television sets in my town perhaps. Those days they used to listen to the commentary of radio. I was sleeping, and then suddenly, in the middle of the night, there was crazy sound of screaming with which I got up, and that’s the first time I saw the visual of fervour and victory. 83 has become a symbol of hope against hope and victory against all hardships for us. That’s because we had won the match.”
He also urged the people to watch the movie. ’83’ will hit the silver screen on December 24.
