Punjab: Alert BSF troopers intercept a Pakistani drone
Ferozpur: Ferozepur (Punjab), Dec 18 (UNI) Vigilant BSF troops shot down a Chinese-made Pakistani drone in Ferozepur sector of International Border in Punjab on Saturday, the Border Security Force statement said.
The drone was at a distance of 300 meters from the border, when it was intercepted and brought down.
“Once again anti national element activity was foiled,” the paramilitary troop said. BSF said a search operation is underway near the India-Pakistan border.
The paramilitary troopers brought down the hexacopter which in all likelihood was on a recce mission carrying out survey of the border region, according to sources.
The drone was spotted hovering despite thick fog in the area.
The hexacopter was brought down by troopers posted at BOP Wan, Ex-103 Bn, Amarkot. The ANE operators of the hexacopter managed to get as close as 150 metres from B S Fence, using the heavy fog to their advantage.
Top officials of the BSF are ar the spot and a massive search operation has been launched.
Given the possibility of a weapon drop or drug drop in the backdrop of low visibility, the forces on duty is searching every inch of the border region. As per sources, the drone model seems to be similar to the one received in Kathua earlier last week.
