Sensex marginally up 4.89 points
Mumbai : The BSE Sensex on Thursday ended positive at 55,949.10, rising by nominal 4.89 points following gains in Energy, Industrials, Capital Goods and Power stocks.
The Nifty too moved up by 2.25 points at 16,636.90.
Easing by 14 pts on Wednesday, the Sensex opened at 55,988.45, jumping 44 points. During the day, it advanced 168 points to 56,112.39, days high, before closing at 55,949.10, rising 4.89 points from its previous close.
Meanwhile, it was fell by 90 points at 55,854.07, the days low.
The Sensex registered days high and low at 56,112.39 and 55,854.07 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 16,683.70 and 16,603.40 points respectively.
The sectoral indices like Energy, Industrials, Capital Goods and Power pushed the market.
In scrips, Reliance Industries was a major gainer, up by 1.29 per cent to Rs 2230.65 followed by M& M by 1.26 per cent to Rs 782, HCL Technology by 1.16 per cent to Rs 1168, Axis Bank by 0.97 per cent to Rs 746.10.
However, selling in Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, SBI and Powergrid restricted the market from further gains, broker said .
The Mid Cap rose by 0.30 per cent and Small Cap by 0.31 per cent.
In 30 scrips, 14 advanced while 16 declined.
