Sensex ends all time high at 55,582.58 points
Mumbai : Surpassing its previous days record, the BSE Sensex on Monday ended on life time high at 55,582.58 on the strength of metal, materials, oil & gas and energy stocks.
The Nifty rose by 33.45 points at 16,563.05. The day opened on a positive note at 55,479.74, up by 42 points.
During the day it surged by 243 points to 55,680.75, the days high, before closing at 55,582.58, advancing by 145.29 points from its previous close.
Meanwhile it fell by 156 points to 55,281.02, the days low.
The Sensex registered the days high and low at 55,680.75 and 55,281.92 536.02 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded the days high and low at 16,589.50 and 16,480.75 points respectively.
The sectoral indices like metals, materials, oil and gas and energy stocks kept the market firm for the third straight session on Monday.
The scrips that glittered were Tata Steel a major gainer by 3.67 per cent to close at Rs 1515 followed by Bajaj Finance, M& M, Bajaj Finserv and Reliance Industries.
However, selling in Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, Power, SBI and Ultracemco capped further gains, brokers informed.
The Mid Cap fell by 0.18 per cent and Small Cap by 0.57 per cent.
In 30 scrips, 14 advanced while 16 declined.
Mixed trend was seen Asian Market as SGX Nikkei and Set Composite rose by 0.21 and 0.19 per cent respectively while, Hang Seng fell by 0.80 per cent followed by Taiwan Straights by 0.73 per cent and Kospi by 1.16 per cent.
