Suspicious pigeon found again in Odisha

Another suspected ‘spy’ pigeon has been captured at Nanpur under Puri’s Astaranga Police limits on Wednesday.

According to reports, villagers had spotted the pigeon roaming in the locality for the last eight days. At around 5 pm yesterday. a local Rupan Pati was able to capture the bird and alerted the police.

The pigeon was seen with three tags on both its legs. On one of the tags, ‘REDDY VSP DN’ was engraved, while another tag bore the number 31 on it. After catching the pigeon, the locals informed the police about the same.

It is pertinent to mention here that a similar pigeon with a tiny camera-like device and a microchip fixed to its legs was captured by fishermen when it had perched on their fishing boat which had anchored 40 km off the Konark coast.

The fishermen had handed over the bird to the Marine police in Paradip on March 8. Investigation into the matter by the police is underway.
