Athagarh, April 8: In an incident of institutional negligence, a seven-year-old boy died after a school gate allegedly collapsed and fell on him in Athagarh area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.
The deceased child has been identified as Chiku Naik of Ankula village.
Sources said, Chiku along with other schoolchildren were playing near the gate of Satyabadi nodal upper primary school on Friday when the gate collapsed over them. While all others could ran for safety, Chicku got trapped under the collapsed gate. Though he was rushed to the Athagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital soon, doctors declared him dead.
The incident has shocked schoolchildren and parents.
The villagers have blamed the school authorities for loss of valuable life of a child.
Police have reached the spot and started investigation.
