Body Of BJP Leader Arjun Chaurasia Taken To Army Hospital For Autopsy
The body of BJP leader Arjun Chaurasia on Saturday was shifted to the Command Hospital in the city from the West Bengal government owned RG Kar Medical College and hospital for autopsy following a Calcutta High Court order.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava on Friday afternoon directed the city police commissioner to arrange to send the body to Army hospital in south Kolkata for post-mortem, which would be video graphed in presence of a chief judicial magistrate. The court directive followed after the mother of the 26-year-old victim prayed that her son’s post-mortem should not be held in a state government owned hospital.
Mother Lachmina Chaurasia, aided by advocate Priyanka Tibrewal, told the court that the state police forcibly took away the body to the RG Kar hospital. They wanted to keep the body until Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived at their Cossipore residence on Friday noon. But that did not happen as the policemen forcibly took away the corpse of her son, who was found hanging at an abandoned Railway quarters near their residence early Friday.
The body of Arjun Chaurasia was shifted from RG Kar hospital around 6 am to the Command Hospital with a security convoy for post-mortem.The court also directed the state administration to ensure safety of the bereaved family members at Cossipore with CCTV cameras being set up for surveillance.
