Fodder Scam: Hearing Deferred On Lalu Yadav’s Bail Plea
Ranchi, Mar 4: The Jharkhand High Court on Friday deferred the hearing over the bail petition of jailed former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Yadav over some defects in his bail petition.
The matter was listed in the court of justice Apresh Kumar Singh for hearing. During the proceedings the court directed to correct the mistakes. It is expected that hearing on the bail plea will now be held on March 11. A special CBI court had awarded five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 60 lakh on Lalu Yadav after he was convicted in Fodder Scam case number RC47 A/96 which is related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 139.35 crore from Doranda Treasury. Lalu Yadav through his lawyers has filed a bail petition in the Jharkhand.
The bail has been sought on the grounds of his old age, battle with more than a dozen health related ailments and half sentencing. At present over health grounds Lalu Yadav has been kept in paying ward of RIMS where a team of seven senior doctors are monitoring his health.
