Soil Conservation Overseer Held Taking Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Monday nabbed Soil Conservation Overseer of Thuamul Rampur in Kalahandi district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000. The accused has been identified as Dhanujaya Dhoba.

Reportedly, Dhoba had demanded Rs 35,000 from the complainant to process the documents related to the release of his as well as other MGNREGA beneficiaries’ payments for digging a staggered trench.

Acting on the complaint, a Vigilance team laid a trap and nabbed Dhoba red-handed while accepting the bribe. The entire amount was recovered from his possession.

Subsequently, the Vigilance sleuths launched simultaneous searches at two locations related to Dhoba in connection with possibly amassing disproportionate assets (DA).

Dhoba was also involved in a disproportionate assets case earlier. The Koraput Vigilance P.S. has registered a case (No.06 dated 29.01.2023 U/s 7 P.C Amendment Act, 2018) in this connection and further investigation is in progress.
