The Odisha police on Wednesday arrested the father of Koida BDO Pallavi Rani Raj on charges of assaulting her. The Brother of the BDO, involved in the attack is absconding yesterday night.
According to sources, the BDO had lodged a complaint accusing her father Ramesh Chandra Raj and brother Sangram Kumar Raj of beating her and an assistant engineer, Abhishek Panigrahi, at her official residence on Tuesday night. The father-son duo allegdely thrashed them following a tiff over clearance of pending bills related to some work at his residence.
The duo went to the police station and filed a complaint against her father and brother. After the complaint, the police initiated an action and arrested his father Ramesh Raj. Meanwhile, her brother Sangram Raj has been absconding.
Both BDO Pallavi Raj and Asst Engineer Abhishek Panigrahi has been admitted to the Koira hospital for medical treatment. BDO Raj has been referred to Rourkela Government Hospital for initial treatment and then shifted to SCB Medical & College in Cuttack.
Following the incident, a team of Koida Community Health Centre (CHC) rushed to BDO’s residence and shifted her to the SCB hospital following first aid. Meanwhile, the injured Assistant Engineer has been referred to the Rourkela Government Hospital after primary treatment at Koida CHC.
