Forest dept employees shot at during patrolling in Boudh, Two Staff Critical

Two employees of the forest department sustained critical bullet injuries when unidentified miscreants opened fire at them during patrolling near Khaliapali Chhak here on late Tuesday night. The reason behind the firing is not known yet.

The injured were identified as Nilachal Pradhan and Naba Kumar Sahu. Five other employees including the additional Forest Conservator had a narrow escape from the firing incident While Nilachala was shot in his shoulder, Naba received bullet injuries on his back. They have been admitted to the Boudh district headquarters hospital in critical condition

A team of forest department employees were on patrolling duty in Baghiapada forest on Tuesday night. However, some identified miscreants opened fire at the team at Khaliapali Square leaving two of them seriously injured. The miscreants fled the spot immediately after the firing.

On being informed, local police reached the spot and started an investigation. Although the miscreants have not been identified, police suspect that the Forest personnel were attacked by the mafia.
