Five Arrested For Theft At Former Hockey Player’s Residence

Bhubaneswar: Five individuals were arrested by police on Friday for their alleged involvement in a theft at the residence of former international hockey player Prabodh Tirkey. The suspects are believed to have stolen medals and other valuable items from Tirkey’s home on January 21.

The accused have been identified as Chitta Ranjan Dalei, Sukant Nayak, Milu Behera, G Ganga, and Rajka Mahalik. Notably, all of them have over 100 pending cases against them at various police stations in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

The police have recovered 14 medals and valuables from their possession, including gold jewellery, a camera, two mobile phones, and an LED TV. The suspects apparently entered Tirkey’s home while he and his family were away in Rourkela. A complaint about the incident was filed at the Capital Police Station.
