Malkangiri police arrested a drug dealer and constable for smuggling ganja and sent them to jail custody on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Sarat Chandra Hantal and a police constable named Manoj Kumar Muduli.
According to reports, acting on a tip-off, Malkangiri police SI raided a place in Markapalli on Sunday night and arrested one Sarat Chandra Hantal for allegedly selling ganja (marijuana). The police have also ganja packets and a Bolero van during the raid.
During interrogation, hental revealed that a police constable named Manoj Kumar Muduli was involved in ganja smuggling in the area.
On the basis of the information, police arrested Muduli and sent him to jail after his bail plea was rejected. Further investigation is underway to find out other members involved in the smuggling of contraband in the area.
