Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court has granted a petition from Somalika Dash (29), the alleged girlfriend of BJD’s Tirtol MLA Bijay Shankar Das, and instructed the police to file a case against the legislator.
Somalika accused the police, particularly the IIC of Jagatsinghpur police station, of neglecting to file a case based on her FIR lodged on May 13, 2022. She also accused the Jagatsinghpur SP of not taking action under Section 154 (3) of CrPC.
In a hearing on January 27, Justice SK Panigrahi ordered Somalika to submit a fresh complaint and a copy of his order to the IIC of Jagatsinghpur police station. If a cognizable case is made out, the court directed the IIC to file a case.
Following the court’s order, Somalika submitted a written complaint to the Jagatsinghpur IIC, who promised to file a case this time.
Somalika had previously accused Bijay of operating sex racket and harassing and cheating her, including an alleged rape, which Bijay denies as baseless and defamatory.
