Nayagarh: Six members of a looter gang and two buyers were arrested by Nayagarh Police. Gold and silver jewellery worth over Rs 30 lakh were seized from their possession.
The gang operated in neighboring Ganjam, Boudh, Kandhamal districts along with Nayagarh. More than 10 cases have been registered against them at different police stations, informed Nayagarh SP Alekha Chandra Pahi.
The looters have been identified as Shankar Palei, Manoranjan Maharana, Sarat Chandra Maharana, Purnachandra Maharana, Ramesh Lenka, and Mitu Swain. The gold traders who bought stolen goods from them are Kalandi Subudhi, and Sanjay Sirke.
