Bates Joins 5000-ODI Runs Club

Christchurch, March 26 : Suzie Bates has become the fourth women’s cricketer to cross 5000 One-Day International (ODI) runs on Saturday. The 34-year-old achieved the milestone during an ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 match against Pakistan at Hagley Oval. Bates anchored New Zealand’s innings and scored 126 off 135 balls, including 14 boundaries. The right-hander now has 5045 ODI runs. India’s Mithali Raj (7737 runs), England’s Charlotte Edwards (5992 runs), West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor (5250 runs) hold the top three places. Bates also became the first women’s cricketer from New Zealand to pass 5000 ODI runs. She is followed by her teammate Amy Satterthwaite (4639 runs).
