Sena may support NDA’s presidential candidate Murmu

Mumbai, July 12 : Shiv Sena spokesperson and MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday hinted party president Uddhav Thackeray is likely to announce party’s support for NDA-named presidential candidate, Droupadi Murmu.

However, he made it clear that support for Murmu does not translate to supporting the BJP.

In a meeting on Monday, Sena MPs met Thackeray in which most of them expressed their support in favour of Murmu.

Interacting with the media on Tuesday, Raut said many MPs have expressed their support to Murmu.

Raut said there is a large tribal community in Maharashtra too and as many Shiv Sena workers are involved in the tribal areas, Thackeray now aware of their intention, will take the final decision.

He also cited example of former President Pratibhatai Patil, whose candidature was named by the Congress-led UPA, and Sena at the time despite being an NDA ally had voted in favour of Patil.
