SEC Issues New Dates For Nominations Where No Nominations Filed Or All Rejected

Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission has issued a new set of dates for Panchayat polls for those Wards and Sarpanches, Panchayat Samitis and Zilla Parishad Constituencies where there have been no nominations filed or all have been rejected.

Speaking to media, State Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhi has said that the Election officers will issue fresh Notice on January 27th. The new dates for Nomination filing for those areas will be from 29th January to 31st January.

While the nominations for the Panchayat Polls have ended, more than 4000 wards have no candidates for ward members. Likewise six Panchayats have no Sarpanch candidates and there are no candidates for seven Samiti member posts. If again any of the posts do not see any nominations, the government will select the PRI members.
