Puri Car festival: Hotel Owners Asked To Install CCTV Cameras

Puri, May 30: Hotel owners in Puri have been asked to install CCTV cameras in their establishments and submit seven days of recording to the police station under whose jurisdiction they are operating.

The direction was issued by Puri Superintendent of police K.Vishal Singh on Monday during a meeting with the members of the hotel association of Puri (HAP).

The hotel owners were asked to take various steps for the comfort of the visitors expected to throng this pilgrim town in large numbers during the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, scheduled to begin on July 1, after two years of pandemic norms.

The devotees will participate in the annual rath yatra of the lords almost after a gap of two years. During the last years, the annual car festival was organized sans devotees due to covid pandemic

The police advised the hotel owners to ensure adequate service to boarders during their stay and issued a toll-free number 6370967100 for visitors to get police assistance.
Apart from a handful of star hotels, about 250 medium hotels over 2000 guest houses, holiday homes and small hotels serve the visitors in Puri.

The SP asked the police station inspectors to visit their establishments and ensure they all install CCTVs and display their rate charts for boarding and food. Police also asked the office bearers of HAP to run Whatsapp groups to enlighten visitors their location of hotel, rates and about dining facilities, the SP said. He said similar meetings will be held with taxi and auto-rickshaw operators associations soon in the town.
