Omicron Surge: Keep Ready All Covid Hospitals In Ten Days, Odisha CM Directs Officials

Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday directed the officials to get ready all the covid hospitals in the state in next ten days in view of the rising incidents of covid positive cases in the state.

Reviewing the covid situation with the district collectors and heads of various departments on digital mode, Mr.Patnaik asked the officials to expedite the preparations to counter the covid

The Chief Minister also asked the officials to prepare at least the number of ICU and beds available during the peak of the second wave of the covid in the state.

Advising the officials to work on campaign mode to meet the vaccination target,he said priority should be given on vaccination of children in the age group of15 to 18.

Stating that restrictions have to be imposed to minimise the transmission of virus, the Chief Minister wanted the officials to ensure that it does not have any impact on the livelihood of the people.

Mr Patnaik said Omicron variant is spreading very fast in the whole country. The number of patients has doubled in a few days and very soon lakhs of people might be infected with covid.

The number of Omicron patients has also started rising in the state,he said adding ‘’we have to take steps immediately for the better management of covid without putting the people in trouble.’’

He said decisions were taken at the review meeting last week to implement certain preparations on war footing and directed the Chief Secretary to conduct review meeting daily for the implementation of these decisions.

The Chief Minister also directed to reactivate the various monitoring groups of officers and district level observers system as worked during the second wave.

All arrangements should be implemented at the earliest as the possibility of transmission of the virus

is very fast in the current wave, Mr.Patnaik said and appealed to people to cooperate with the government officials on duty and observe all covid norms to contain the virus.

Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra directed the senior officials to visit the districts , review the situation and to take appropriate action.

Additional Chief Secretary Health and family welfare R K Sharma said strict vigil is kept on the infection of Omicron virus and regular testing of foreign returnee is being conducted.

Soon the Government will prepare the Covid-19 treatment protocol.
