Odisha Celebrates International Yoga Day

Bhubaneswar, June 21: Odisha joined the rest of the country and the world in celebrating International Yoga Day on Tuesday.

Thousands of people participated in the International Yoga day organised at several places across the state. Three Union Ministers— Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishanaw, Minister for Heavy Industries Mahendra Pandey and Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Bisweswar Tudu participated in the international yoga celebration organised at three historic sites—Puri, Konark and Tamara lake in Ganjam district.

While Railway Minister led the Yoga celebration at Konark temple, Mahendra Pandey, participated in the Yoga day function at Puri and Biswswar Tudu took part in the international yoga day celebration at Kichhing in Mayurbhanja district.

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, Puri MLA Jayanta Sarangi and the party’s State general secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar took part in the yoga day celebration held at Puri.
Meanwhile, eminent sand artists made sand sculptures on Puri beach to mark the day.


While Sudarshan Patnaik, a sand artist of international fame created a seven-foot-high sand sculpture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing yoga at Puri beach, another renowned sand artist Manas Ranjan Sahu made a sand sculpture on Puri beach to celebrate the International Yoga day.
In addition to it, international yoga day was also celebrated in various schools, colleges, institutions and Universities.
