New Guidelines Coming Soon: Odisha Ready To Deal Surge In Covid-19 Cases, Affirms Odisha Health Director

Bhubaneswar: Amid slow and steady rise of Covid-19 cases Odisha health Director Bijay Mohapatra on Tuesday affirmed that state is prepared to face the Covid-19 situation.

Addressing the Media director, Health Services claimed that although the spread of Covid-19 transmission had a delayed start in comparison to other states but it may increase in the upcoming days.

He said when infection figure was low in the last few months, Khurda district accounted for nearly 50% of total cases in the state and the rate has been sustained now. But Sambalpur and Sundargarh have witnessed a surge in the latest phase. Other districts may also witness the surge in coming days, he added.

However, the government is prepared to fight the pandemic and if required, new guidelines will be issued, Mohapatra said adding that like previous phases, the people should follow the government protocols like wearing face masks and avoiding crowding in public places.
