Daily Covid Load In Odisha Surpasses 800 Mark In Past 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar, July 14: The daily covid load in Odisha surged to 804 in the past 24 hours taking the total cumulative tally in the state to 12,96,132.

The covid infections have doubled in Odisha during the last week with a big jump from 401 cases on July 5 to 804 fresh cases in the past 24 hours.

Health department sources said out of 804 new cases recorded from 23 districts in the state in the past 24 hours,471 were registered from the quarantine centres and 333 as local contact cases.

At least 71 cases were reported in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

Khordha district continued to report the highest number of 307 covid cases followed by Cuttack ( 119), Sundargarh (80 ) and Puri ( 28).

These four districts together accounted for over 66 per cent of the new cases in the state recorded in the past 24 hours.

The total active cases in the state also crossed the 4000 mark to remain at 4262 of which Khordhs district alone contributed 1694 cases, the highest in the state followed by 743 in Cuttack. These two coastal districts of Odisha alone registered over 57 per cent of the total active cases in the state.

Official sources said a total of 420 covid patients were cured from the infections in the past 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 12,82,690.

The test positivity rate of the state has also been showing a rising trend over the past few days and stood at over 4 per cent.

At least four districts such as Khordha, Cuttack, Puri and Kandhamal were declared as Red Zone with a high test positivity rate of more than 7.5 per cent on Wednesday, sources said
