Maha: Osmani Resigns As District Cong President Aurangabad

Aurangabad, July 23: Outgoing Aurangabad City District Congress president Hisham Osmani on Saturday said that, he was happy that the his resignation from the presidentship, for my city and my people, was accepted by the Congress party.

It may noted that Osmani resigned from his post protest in protest against the renaming of Aurangabad city as Sambhajinager by the MVA led state government in which Congress was one of the alliance partner. After his resignation several office bearers also resigned from their post.

The Congress party has appointed Shaikh Yousuf on Friday to replace Osmani.
Talking to UNI Osmani said that, after 24 days I successfully recorded my name in history today as the first city district Congress president to resign from his post against the renaming of Aurangabad.

“Despite the clear opportunity to remain district president for another 5 years till 2027 under Digital Membership Campaign, I voluntarily resigned from my post as I can never compromise with Congress ideology and Gandhian values” Osmani said.
“Today I stand proudly with my Aurangabadkar brothers and sisters and am proud to be an Aurangabadkar and have no regrets and sorrow for leaving the post” he added.

I thank almighty God for giving me the opportunity to stand up for my city and the people of Aurangabad when they need me, he said.

I also thank Sonia Gandhi, H K Patil, Prithviraj Chavan, Moghe, Sampat Kumar, all the senior leaders of Aurangabad among others who have supported me and worked with me all these years.
I will continue to fight for the secular and Gandhian ideology all my life and for the development and up liftment of Aurangabad and the country and hope that your support and prayers will always be with me. My best wishes to the incoming City District Congress President, he added.
