Imran Cites India To Attack Opposition

Islamabad, April 1: Embattled Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday made a veiled attack on the US, saying while it was annoyed with him for visiting Russia, it could do nothing when India bought oil from Moscow. Speaking at the Islamabad Security Dialogue, Khan said India was an ally of the West but it was still supporting Russia and buying its fuel despite the Western sanctions over Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, ARY NEWS channel reported.

“I read a statement that India’s foreign policy is independent,” he said.

“It is time for introspection as to what is the policy of our country.” Imran Khan said the opposition was saying that Pakistan has annoyed the US. He said no country could play its role in resolving conflicts between countries unless it is neutral.

“Pakistan played its role for peace in Afghanistan besides also playing its part in limiting conflict between Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran,” he said. The former cricketer, who is battling an opposition attempt to unseat him, said no country could safeguard its people unless its foreign policy was independent. “Pakistan suffered more losses than gains while supporting the war on terror in Afghanistan,” he said, as he lauded India’s independent foreign policy.
