Athawale Faces Anger In Dombivli Over ‘Water Issue’

Thane, May 19: The union minister and Republican Party of India (RPI) chief Ramdas Athawale. had to face irk of the lone survivor of Gaikwad family on Wednesday.

As the Minister was here to console the family, whose five members of family drowned in a water filled quarry at Sandap village near Dombivli in Thane district on May 7.

The village has been facing acute water shortage. During the course of consolation , Athawale offered a compensation of Rs. 50,000 to the bereaved family member, but he rejected his offer and shouted at the minister, saying we want water not your compensation. He further said many politicians and leaders did nothing except making false promises. Upon this, the minister said he would take up the issue of water to these villages with collector and others.
