Kim accepts North Korea facing ‘great turmoil’, over 174,400 Covid Infected

Seoul, May 14 : North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un has said that his nation is facing ‘great turmoil’ due to the Covid-19 outbreak. On Saturday, over 174,400 people of North Korea were reported to have been infected with the virus while 21 died due to it. Pyongyang on Sunday announced its first Covid-19 outbreak since January 2020. The state media released the updated tally compiled the previous day, after Kim presided over an early-morning politburo meeting to review the nation’s “maximum emergency” anti-virus system in place, Yonhap News Agency reported. According to the North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), ways for the swift supply and distribution of emergency medical supplies were mainly discussed during the meeting. He was briefed on the current situation from the state emergency epidemic prevention headquarters and described it as “great turmoil since the country’s founding,” Yonhap quoted it as reporting. During the meeting, Kim said the situation is not “uncontrollable,” as the cases are within certain regions that have already been put under lockdown.
