Foldable iPhone In The Works, Might Be Launched In Market By 2025

Apple will reportedly launch its foldable smartphone ‘iPhone Fold’ by 2025, which is expected to feature a flexible OLED display and come with a host of new features. Currently, the foldable market is being dominated by Samsung. Motorola too had launched a couple of foldable phones and may launch the Razr in 2023. Apart from that, Google Pixel may also introduce a foldable smartphone soon in the market.

As per AppleInsider, Apple’s iPhone Fold is expected to grace the smartphone market in 2025. As per tipster Jon Prosser, Apple could be working on a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Prosser said that Apple is working on a foldable device with a clamshell design, the prototype of which was seen in several leaks. Apple for now is focusing on the hinge of the device and testing its durability.

“This clamshell foldable iPhone will actually feature a foldable display. I am told it will feature a folding OLED display supplied by Samsung…I am told we will not get both versions of a foldable iPhone. Like Samsung has Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. No. It will be just this (clamshell) or other (book-style folding), at least at first,” he said in the video.

Earlier in November, a report had claimed that If all goes as planned for Apple, the Cupertino-giant would launch its first foldable device in September 2022. So this means the phone would be ready for launch next year.

The Economic Daily previously reported that Apple is evaluating whether it should use OLED or go for the microLED material for this folding iPhone. The type of material will determine the manufacturing process. The hinges that Apple has been testing alongside the OLEDs for dimply could be sourced mostly from New Nikko and go to Hon Hai (or Foxconn) for assembling.

Foldable phones are gaining momentum but the demand for smartphones is not as much. Besides only companies including Samsung, Motorola, LG, and Huawei have launched foldable smartphones in the market.
On a related note, Apple was also rumored to be working on a self-driving car and could launch it in the market in 2024. Reports have claimed that Apple would introduce a battery that could “radically” reduce the cost of the batteries and increase the vehicle’s range. “As for the car’s battery, Apple plans to use a unique “mono cell” design that bulks up the individual cells in the battery and frees up space inside the battery pack, one of the people said. That design means more active material can be packed inside the battery, giving the car a potentially longer range,” the Reuters report said.

Ben Wood, chief of research at the firm had stated that if Apple encountered any technical difficulties with the foldable phone, there would be a “feeding frenzy” among haters who would blame the company for the flaws.
