Nurturing Posterity: Students’ parliament useful for creating conscious citizens, Patil

Pune, Sep 17 : Initiatives like ‘Bharatiya Chhatra Sanshad’ (Indian Students’ Parliament) will be useful for creating conscious citizens in the country, noted Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil on Saturday.
Speaking at the 12th Students’ Parliament organised by MIT World Peace University, he said that the law of the country is equal for people of all religions and castes.
“Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar while preparing the Constitution had thought about the future and through it everyone has been given equal rights,” he observed and called for a need of legislation to eliminate the disparity between men and women in the country in accordance with the principles of the Constitution.
“If a person from a humble background works diligently for the society, s/he can rise to a high position and this is the hallmark of our democracy,” he said and exhorted youths to learn about various subjects through activities like Students’ Parliament.
The minister advised the students to never ever accept the thoughts of the political leaders at face value and asked them to discuss and debate in a positive way.
