New Delhi, Jan 16 : As many as 13,311 companies were registered in the month of December 2021 under the Companies Act, taking the total number of active companies in the country to 14,44,572, said the latest data by the government.

Out of the total companies registered across various categories, 811 were one-person companies (OPCs).

“A total of 13,311 companies, including 811 one-person companies (OPCs) were registered under the Companies Act, 2013 during December 2021 with authorized capital of Rs 3,164.19 crore,” Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA)’s monthly bulletin said.

The MCA data showed Maharashtra topped the chart in new registrations of companies during December followed by Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

As per economic activity-wise classification of new registrations, ‘Business Services’ ranked on the top with 3,508 companies registered in this group.

During December, 13,224 companies out of total new registrations were limited by shares and had a combined authorized capital of Rs 3,162.43 crores.
