Odisha reports 340 Covid 19 cases in past 24 hours,Tally mounts to 10,35,417

Bhubaneswar : The daily covid load in Odisha has started showing a declining trend for the last four days along with the daily test positivity rate.
Health and family Welfare department sources said out of 57,293 tests conducted in the past 24 hours, 340 tested positive taking the total tally in the state to 10,35,417.
For the last four days the daily covid load has been maintaining a declining trend of below 500 mark.The infection has come down from 467 on October 14 to 340 during the past 24 hours.
Official sources said out of 340 new cases, 199 were reported from the quarantine centres and 141 as local contact cases.
Khordha district continued to be on the top of the district tally with the highest number of 149 cases followed by 43 in Cuttack.These two districts together accounted for 56.47 percent of the total covid cases recorded in the state in the past 24 hours.
At least nine districts have reported no positive cases during the period.The covid recovery in the state further surged to 10,22,250 after 508 patients recovered from the virus on Sunday.
The active cases for the second consecutive day remained below 5000 mark.Khordha district which was declared a red zone for registering over 2500 active cases, has now come under yellow zone with 2410 active cases, contributing almost 50 percent of the total active cases in the state.
The daily test positivity rate has further declined to 0.59 percent from 0.8 percent
The Khordha district however, has also a high test positivity rate of 3.5 percent .The other 29 districts have less than one percent test positivity rate, ten of them have reported zero test positivity rate.
The covid death toll in the state rose to 8295 with the report of five more deaths being recorded from four districts during the health audit being undertaken by the Health and Family Welfare department.
Official sources said the state is likely to cross one crore mark in second dose covid vaccination.Till midnight of October 17 last already 99,22,845 have been inoculated with the second dose.
As many as 3540 villages in the state have already covered the first doses.So far 2,41,51,605 people have been inoculated with the first dose in the state.
