Odisha: 208 new covid 19 cases, four deaths

Odisha: State reported 208 fresh Covid cases in the past 24 hours with a test positivity rate of 0.40 per cent taking the total tally in the state to 10,43,151.

There has been a slight increase in the daily Covid- 19 load in the past 24 hours as 170 new cases were reported on Wednesday after a gap of almost 120 days.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 208 new cases, 119 were reported from the quarantine centers and 89 as local contact cases.

Khurdha district recorded the highest number of 99 new cases followed by Cuttack (20) and Jajpur (12). These three coastal districts together accounted for almost 63 per cent of the total cases.

In the death audit process, four more deaths were recorded, two from Khurdha district and one each in Angul and Kendrapara, pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8354.

For the first time, all the 30 districts in the state recorded a test positivity rate of less than one per cent. At least ten districts have zero test positivity rate while there has been a marginal rise of daily test positivity rate in the past 24 hours from 0.30 per cent on Wednesday to 0.40 per cent on Thursday.

The active cases in the state further dropped to 3319 with Khurdha district registering the highest number of 1586 cases followed by Cuttack (319) and Jajpur (119). The other 27 districts have active cases below the 100 mark.

Official sources said the recovery in the state surged to 10,31,425 636 as 636 patients were cured of the virus on Thursday.
