Women activists lodging complaint with STC against MSF leaders: Muslim League may dissolve the state committee of Haritha wing of its student arm, Haritha

Malappuram : The Indian Union Muslim League is flexing its muscles against the woman activists of the MSF-Haritha, the women’s wing of the party’s student organisation, the Muslim Students Federation (MSF), as a punishment for not withdrawing their petition to the State Women’s Commission against male counterparts in MSF, alleging verbal abuse and insulting.
A group of ten women activists of MSF-Haritha had filed a petition with the State Women’s Commission that a few leaders of the MSF had abused them and behaved improperly with them during their state meeting held on June 22. The complaint accused the MSF president P K Nawaz and its Malappuram district secretary V Abdul Wahab of talking in rubbish language and insulting them with an objective to demean the women.
Efforts by the league leaders to patch up the issue had also failed compelling them to act strongly against the women leaders. The League leadership had assured the Haritha activists to take appropriate action against the MSF leaders but to withdraw their petition with the SWC first. However, the women activists refused to abide and took a firm stand that they would withdraw the petition only after taking proper disciplinary action against the two leaders.
The complaint alleged that the two MSF leaders abused them saying among other things `any prostitute will have her opinion’ when the Haritha activists opposed a unilateral constitution of its Malappuram district committee by the MSF without consulting them.
The MSF-Haritha members had earlier approached the League leadership but without getting an appropriate response or action from their top brass. This made them move their petition before the State Women’s Commission.
A meeting of the party’s high power committee will decide the course of action soon, sources added.
