President Kovind turns 76 today; PM, other leaders extend wishes

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders have extended their greetings to the President, Ram Nath Kovind on his 76th Birthday on Friday.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Birthday greetings to Rashtrapati Ji. Due to his humble personality, he has endeared himself to the entire nation. His focus on empowering the poor and marginalised sections of society is exemplary. May he lead a long and healthy life,”.

Ram Nath Kovind was sworn in as the 14th President of India on 25 July, 2017.

A lawyer by profession, he had been the Governor of the State of Bihar before he took over the highest constitutional office.

Kovind was born on 1st October 1945 at village Paraunkh in Kanpur district of the State of Uttar Pradesh.

Coming from a family of modest means, his beginning was humble. He attended school and college in Kanpur.

He first studied commerce for Bachelors and then attained his Law degree from Kanpur University.

BJP President JP Nadda also extended his heartiest birthday wishes to the President.

In his message on Twitter Nadda said, “The life dedicated to the weak and disadvantaged sections of Rashtrapati ji, rich in liberal personality, is inspiring for us. The society is continuously getting the benefit of your experiences. I pray for your healthy and long life,”.

Wishing the President, Union Minister Narinder Singh Tomar said, “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to the Hon’ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji on his birthday… I wish you a long and healthy life…”

Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar also offered his greetings to the President.

“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to the Honorable President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji on his birthday. I wish him a healthy and long life,” he said in his message on twitter.
