Police announces reward for those providing information on missing SPO

Srinagar: J&K police has announced a reward money of Rs 5 lakh for anyone who would give information on missing Special Police Officer (SPO) and his associate who have gone missing from frontier district of Kupwara.

Saqib Tantray, the Personal Security Officer of a BJP leader Abdul Rashid Zargar went missing along with two rifles on the intervening night of December 12 and 13 from Kupwara. Saqib a resident of Bohipora and his associate Arif Mir from his village also went missing the same night.

Police were tight lipped about the incident so far. However, with the issuance of public notice the police have formally admitted the two are missing.

“Anyone providing information about Saqib Tantray and Arif Mir will be rewarded with Rs 5 lakhs,” a police notice by Kupwara police read. Police did not say if the two had joined militant ranks or not. Soon after the duo went missing, security forces sounded an alert across the border district to trace the missing SPO and his accomplice.
