PM Inaugurates Multi-Product Pipeline Project Worth Around Rs 1,524 crores

New Delhi, Dec 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated a multi-product 356-km pipeline from Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh to POL Terminal at Panki in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to improve availability of products in Uttar Pradesh, northern Bihar and southern Uttarakhand.

The pipeline with 283 km in Uttar Pradesh and 73 km in Madhya Pradesh has a design capacity of 3.5 million tonnes per annum for transporting motor spirit (MS), high speed diesel (HSD) and superior kerosene oil (SKO).

The total cost of the project is Rs 1,524 crores and it will cover five districts of Uttar Pradesh — Lalitpur, Jhansi, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat and Kanpur Naga — and two inf MP — Sagar and Tikamgarh.

Pipelines are the safe and environment friendly mode of transporting large quantity of petroleum products in an economical and reliable manner, reducing carbon foot prints by avoiding tank wagon and tank lorry movements.

The project has been completed and commissioned one month ahead of approved completion schedule of December 2021 and three years from authorisation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, within the approved cost.

The project also includes facilities like construction of pipeline dispatch terminal at Bina, pipeline receipt terminal at Panki with augmentation of tankage capacity from 30,400 KL to 167,200 KL, rail loading gantry, 11 SV stations and 1 intermediate pigging station along the pipeline route.
